Here are some tips: before you buy a boat you need to know that if you don't plan living on full time and cruising you will need a residential mooring. Get that sorted first in writing or buy a boat which comes with a continuation of the mooring.
The waterways are managed by the Canal River Trust (CRT) and they will help you as well as regulate you in the way DVLA do for your car. To moor at Mayroyd you will need:

- Insurance
- BSS Safety Certificate

Who can help me with any issues or valuing a boat?
This isn't something we do but for help with any issues contact Bronte Boats who are based in Hebden Bridge will be able to help you out.
For valuing a boat that is much harder. There are few valuers and brokers who can honestly tell you what a boat is worth. Boats are worth what someone is willing to pay for them. Websites like Apollo Duck and Boat Shed Yorkshire will help you compare the specs and price of boats. Those on a mooring, and sold with contination of mooring, are always worth a lot more.
How can I buy a boat?
Some boats go into the Estate Agent windows, some are on this website and some you can get online through websites such as Boatshed or Apollo Duck.
How much does it cost to moor at Mayroyd Moorings?
The current fees are £29.40 per foot per year and include water charges. This is reviewed annually in October.
There are lots of boats on the canal, is it all Mayroyd Moorings?
No. Mayroyd Moorings runs right up to Mayroyd Boat Club (sometimes called Mayroyd Moorings Boat Club). After the lock walking towards Mytholmroyd the first 3 boats are on Mayroyd Moorings. Thereafter you are on Mayroyd Boat Club leading towards the tunnel.
